Why can’t somalis dance?

Xaliimos stop the cultural appropriation , Niiko belong to Somali Bantu.

I would rather see our people/women shake their shoulders and jump around like an exotic antelope than them shaking their fatties.

I remember in my uni days. We had to culturally represent Somalis from different regions in some event. They wanted a Galbeed girl like me to do Niiko. Instead of my native Saylaci.

Suffice it to say I knew how to dance well in either style but declined in honour of my ancestors and hooyo would kill me.

I don't think Hausas are known for dancing.

It is the Christian southern ones with a more liberal culture.

Bantu Muslims from tanzania are just as good dancers as their Christan bantu brethrens and Niger-congo Muslims from west Africa (sierra Leone, Cote D'Ivoire etc..) are also good dancers. Culture plays a big role. dancing doesn't serve a social purpose in Nilo-Saharan and Afro-Asiatic cultures unlike Niger-congo cultures where dance performances has many principals that reflect social relationships.
