I don't know why educational institutions gloss over these two VITAL skills. They're probably the greatest predictors of future success in the corporate world.
Nothing will shoot you up that corporate ladder quicker than being able quickly build rapport, build working relationships and presenting skills. Even competence takes a back seat sometimes.
There a dozens of retards in any given company who aren't nearly as qualified or as experienced as their peers but who just keep getting promotions/pay increases/job offers wallahi. If you can do the bare minimum but shine when it comes to social skills, you'll fucking flys right past people who've been there x3 longer than you have.
These skills are argubly just as important as the degree/technical skills. And I know unis do little shit "group-projects" but that's not even in the same realm. So why don't they put more emphasis on this stuff? There should be entire modules dedicated to this shit at university!
Something as simple as adding a personal touch to your emails will make peopel, even external contractors/stakeholders, bend over backwards for you.
The ability to chit-chat with senior figures within your company will set you apart from the 99.99% of nameless, faceless office drones who can't keep eye contact to save their lives. The other added benefit is that they're more likely to overlook any serious f*ck-up, whereas other people who aren't generally well liked will be put through the meat grinder.
This such a colossal oversight for most educational institutions wallahi. If this stuff doesn't come naturally to you then they fucked you
