Why are Somalis so successful in Non-Western countries...but do so poorly in Western countries?

I think sometimes we forget that the Somali diaspora isn't just in Western nations...there's a thriving Somali diaspora all over Africa, Middle East and South Asia. Somalis in Africa are extremely successful, most own businesses and are doing financially well. They're well respected too. Somalis in the Khaleej are also doing very well...many of them gained citizenship, most are educated and have white-collar jobs and have fully assimilated into the culture. Somalis diaspora in Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh are relatively new, but they're heavily growing...most of them have good jobs and generally are respected by the people.

But then there's the Somali diaspora in Europe and North America...oh dear, they consistently rank at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder, Somalis have the lowest household income in America, Canada and Europe. Somalis in the West are synonymous with gang violence and poverty. What happened with somalis in the west?

We aren't hard workers like other demographics who compete in getting the best education and jobs but we instead compete with how much welfare money we get and scam the government and how much useless children we have to get further more money from the government. In the uk Somalis are the highest welfare and highest when it comes to having council homes. In the UK also young somalis have one of the worst record of education levels with less than 50 percent having 5 or more GCSE This is a clear failing pattern something went wrong and I say is a mix of laziness, and failed parenting. In the east somalis are forced to work hard because there is no welfare given to you so I wouldn't really say the most successful as other demographics like Indians holds that spot in Africa and Middle East as mist of their position are doctors and CEO, wheras most somalis in those continents work in a shop and other basic jobs.

But honestly it is a mix. we have thriving Somali business in USA. Come to Minnesota. In fact, Swedish govt came to MN to study what is going on in Minnesota for the high Somali successes?

Somalis do fairly well at a GCSE level in the UK about the same as Pakistanis/Other Africans. The only groups that do better than Somalis are Indian and Chinese students.
Somali's do far better than white people or Jamaicans.

Somalis do fairly well at a GCSE level in the UK about the same as Pakistanis/Other Africans. The only groups that do better than Somalis are Indian and Chinese students.

For somali girls that is true that we do better than a lot of ethnicities but not with somali boys, English boys do better although things are improving but there is still a long way to go to see massive improvements.

Also non-western diasporas have been longer established then the western ones. In 10 years time the western diaspora might catch up with the others.
