Why are Somalis so anarchic?

I don't like spreading an anti-Somali narrative.

However, the Somalis I grew up around were of a different breed. They spent a considerable amount of time outside of the country. So, they understand a thing or two about orderliness. A small pool nonetheless. I've been around the educated class all my life - both my parents, aunts, uncles and many family friends.

Let me do a little oversimplification, there are two types of Somalis (1) Reer Miyi and (2) Reer Magaal.

Most Somalis don't though to be frank. Even the most civilised Somali has a little bit of anarchy in their bones, that is my belief. It's a genetic pre-disposition.

I think it's a mixture of both cultural and economic factors tbh. I wouldn't say poor but rather less educated Hong-Kong and Japanese people may be more loud and anarchic than the educated ones but I don't believe they're as bad as uneducated Somalis. That's where the cultural factors come in. I don't know much about Hong-Kong but manners and social etiquette are very important and systemic in Japan. Their language even has a very complex honorifics system

Like I said... It's just that you're exposed to Somalis more and that's why you think that we're more anarchic than indhoyar.

The ones you see in the west are their smartest 10% and most likely from middle class households while we're mostly poor.

Sure their culture does make them slightly more civilized but I'd say it only makes up less than a small segment of the variables involved with the rest related to what class they belong to.

Also if you have more middle class and rich people in your group you'd have more social mobility and hence even the poorer plebs would want to imitate those with higher status.

We Somalis barely have anyone else to compare with.

We look to our left and see our Somali neighbor with the same devil like kids and to our right our AA neighbor with kids that already have criminal records so why would we change?

If just 20% of our population were middle class then we'd all be a lot more civilized.

Somalis teach their children how to pray/read Quran but they skip the chapters on MANNERS.

Teach your children good manners and limit their exposure to the vast majority of ratchet Somalis or they will also be ruined.

Every well-functioning society needs a structure that is followed by everyone. What you are talking about is an individual thing, not a good model to use for a whole nation.

If beta means better HDI/GDP for Somalis back home, then I'm all for it.

Your alpha/beta thing only works as a personal philosophy. But all business owners do have workers who produce value for them, so even at the micro level, there is structure.

You can be an "alpha" and still respect the rules.

I can't relate??? Somalis are pretty civil in public from my experience. At least compared to other Africans and some Eastern Europeans

I'm not necessarily talking about public spaces like on the road and such. Most people that are out and about behave fine save a few drunks. If you live in a big city then it's all chaotic anyway so you won't notice any additional chaos. I mean any place where a decent amount of Somalis gather together like events
