You could fit all living Somalis, rer diaspora included, into Somaliland for example, or Jubaland, with plenty of space to spare. Why does land matter so much to Somali people?
We are not using most of these lands for farming or cultivation, we are not digging them for oil or gold/gems. Why does barren desert in the middle of no where that doesn't even have clean water mean so much so that Somali tribes are routinely killing each other for it?
The only thing I can think of is the bragging rights.
South Korea currently has 10th biggest economy in the world and it is barely half the size of Somaliland, and its population is 52 million people.
