if such a freakshow happens the moment the army gain strength they will overthrow the government and monopolize power. unless the army is kept weak or divided (to protect civilian institutions). then somalia will be a defacto Ethiopian-Kenyan colony and thus a failed state.

I can imagine a very weak/divided Somalia only if the country is extremely decentralised, as in every state can conduct their own foreign policy. You can still maintain stability and unity with a federal system so long as there are check and balances. Just look at Germany/USA as an example.
I think Somalia will for the long haul be in the shadow of Ethiopia/Kenya because we are laangaab, suffer greater economic (very few industries), cultural backwards, and our national institutions and capital are rock bottom. Our hope is natural, but we need to make sure it doesnt become a curse or develop a harmful dependence.

Kenya does not operate under a strong man and yet you fear them “colonizing you”. Strength does not come from your kink of being whipped and calling a man aabo.
