Why are Somali fathers often absent [serious]

@Wervelwind

Due to the classification of Somalis in western societies under the label "black" our definition of absent fathers has been blurred with that of the native black culture.
For them, it is an actual absent father who hasn't been heard of in years and doesn't want anything to do with the kids.
Although we have that aswell in considerably small numbers, you must remember that so do all the other groups of the society. Wether they be Pakistani, Nigerian, Arab or whatnot.

As for our definition of an absent father, the one most Somalis refer to when we speak, is that of a combination of not only an emotionally absent father but also some that are gone for long intervals of time.
They're more like that random adeer who visits once every few years, not really a father.

I think the new generation, 35 and under, are a lot more involved in their children's upbringing than they get credit for.
There's no doubt that this true for the old guard, specially those who become fathers around the civil war era up to the early 2000s.

Nomadism. Thatโ€™s why you should marry Bantus, Indians, East Asians (not Central Asians or Mongolians) or Europeans with last names which are of peasant origin.
What do you mean by peasant origin?
