They’re investors and homeowners themselves. The real estate makes up ~14% of the GDP last I checked. Way too high. You know you’re a third rate country when your economy is dependent on housing to sustain itself. USA, on the other hand, has a diversified economy and other than NY/SF which has high home prices, at least their salaries reflect the cost of living. The same isn’t true in Vancouver and Toronto, let alone anywhere else.

Canada is essentially a capitalist country larping as a socialist one. It’s highly monopolized with little competition for goods and services. It’s why companies can charge whatever they want because they can.

Are you Canadian? Thunder Bay has skyrocketed and there are bidding wars now. Saskatoon and Winnipeg have virtually no jobs. That’s the issue. They’re also going up in price too.

Lool, no one pays what the asking price is. It’s standard that the house gets bought over asking. In Ottawa actually, a house went 1 million over asking recently. People here have stupid money, it’s crazy.

It’s the average and hardworking miskeen people who are getting screwed over. First time home buyers need to look West or head south if they want a chance at owning a home. Canada is now a place of haves and have nots. Own a home = you have money now.
