Why are a lot of people these days (usually the youth, perhaps say, 17-25 ish) awkward and unable to communicate properly?

As an old man, when I interact with younger people, I can't help but notice their lack of being able to communicate; they're socially awkward, cannot talk without saying ''ummmm'' and ''like'' a LOT, etc... I can't be the only one to notice this?

O, woe betide the youth of today! Their manners doth offend mine eyes, their speech a cacophony of slang and gibberish. Wherefore hast the art of conversation gone, replaced by mindless prattle and incessant chatter? These young hooligans have no respect for their elders, no understanding of the ways of the world. They wander about with their heads buried in their electronic contraptions, heedless of the world around them.

Their attire doth offend the sensibilities, with their garish colors and outlandish designs. They know not the value of a well-tailored garment, nor the dignity of a proper suit and tie. Always seeking to rebel and shock, they forsake the traditions and customs that have withstood the test of time.

And what of their work ethic, or lack thereof? Their idleness and sloth doth astound me. They expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter, without so much as a thought to toil and labor for their supper.

In truth, the youth of today lacketh discipline and decorum. They are a generation adrift, in dire need of guidance and correction. Would that they could be schooled in the ways of old, and made to understand the importance of respect and responsibility.

The lockdown is to blame mostly

Most spent too much time on computers and social media growing up and not enough time playing outside. It makes for a lot of awkward people

Also something I find that is really common with Gen Z’s are people being very loud and argumentative online but very meek and shy in person. Lmao what’s up with that??

I agree. I'm old enough to remember life before the internet, when people had to actually communicate verbally, in person. Even if you were awkward and shy, eventually, you'd become accustomed to being able to express yourself clearly and etc, in real life.
Even today, if you look at career/job postings, many of them ask for people who can clearly communicate, not just verbally, but on paper (written) as well. It's an essential skill.
Maybe not as much now, though?
