Isaaq is far and away the biggest long term enemy Puntland has. Somaliland is a state building project with designs on 60,000 sq km of Puntland’s soil. Preventing secession, and gaining back lost Harti territory is Puntland’s biggest challenge.

Alshabab is also a threat if they were to win outright in South Central Somalia like the Taliban did in Afghanistan.

Hawiye is an afterthought, and I say this as a Mudug MJ. The FGS is a joke.

I think there’s a way we can come to an amicable solution but it’ll require a lot of political will, good governance and luck. I believe America was pushing for SL + Somalia rotating Presidency. There were rumours SL leadership at the time were bargaining for 3 consecutive terms which was a stumbling block. Taking those rumours at face value, the scenario mentioned Italian Somalia’s borders would elect their President in their term and British SL would also elect theirs.

Even if right now FGS begin one man one vote, HSM would make sure there was no SSC participation using the excuse that SSC is disputed and we need to respect SLs claim if we are ever to reach a settlement. PL would calaacal but HAG can sell this to the IC as they do not want any conflict

Can't really call it a blessing if you still have inner government forces fighting and killing each other with civilian casualties in 2022.

Biggest fitna is not providing a single penny of local government municipalities in either Sool or Sanaag despite offering funding for dusty tuulos with a population less than 5,000 like Dangorayo.

Or putting forward Federal government MPs that were hand picked by the head of state and not the clan elders that they are meant to be.
