Who here actually speaks Arabic?

In Puntland, I saw way more signs and notifications in English than Arabic. More people speak English there than Arabic.

The universities in Puntland all use English as the medium of instruction. Not a single course taught in Arabic but many using English.

Libraries in Somalia also have significantly more English books than Arabic books.

You know what people don't realise about speaking multiple languages is that you always keep forgetting one or two or more. Every time one language becomes rusty until I visit a country in which the language is spoken or refresh it by relearning it. It's a very high maintenance skill.

I can speak Arabic the original fuzha and Shami dialect.

As i live and breathe
I understand a little of the Egyptian dialect mostly. I was there for half a year as a kid. To this day the Egyptian dialect sounds the most attractive to my ear. :patrice:
