Think we’re past any chance of that happening now. PL is barely a part of Somalia and so little chance of federal MPs voting for them.

Don't think it will be a hawiye. All hawiye candidates seek out similar supporters. In 2026 there will be a lot of mps looking for positions and favours from the new president. Those none hawiye mps and even some of the hawiye mps will know that those sought after positions will be locked for certain people if a hawiye gets into power.

But if a none hawiye gets into power not only will it be wide open but the minister will actually rule his ministry. Without the deputy minister who is a hawiye or the presidents family being the actual real power and ruler of the ministry.

So hawiye will not be president that I can guarantee.

The candidate to beat was clearly Deni. It never happened that the candidate with the most votes in the first round ended up as 3rd in the second round. He only gained 3 votes or so in the second round. He was betrayed severely.
