I know Islamically speaking for ranks it Allah, ur mother (3 times), and than your father. (I've heard the hadith where it states jannah lies at your mother's feet is very weak)
I suppose my question has multiple parts to it.
I've notice in the Somali community it's rare to see a good father figure (let alone a present one). all my life I've heard others speak badly about their father or never speak of them. meanwhile everyone praises their mothers. I suppose I just want to see if others feel more strongly about their father than their mothers and why????
do we place our mothers on a pedestal b/c of their rank/value in the Deen and b/c they carried us (for 9 months) than birthed us?? or does it go beyond that...
I think at this point I've wandered off from my topic abit, anyways your opinions will be greatly appreciated.

It's too damn HOT!
A good mother will always be the better parent no matter what. She is more than likely to take care of the kids 24/7 while the father is doing work and such. Mothers are valued in Islam for a reason.

Hooyos are just amazing. They gave us everything they could while the aabos were busy chewing qaat and/or being fadhi kadirir qabiilistayal. :francis:

Dad teach you discipline and how to survive worst moments.

Mom teach you emotional things and being soft. :icon lol:

Its fiddy fiddy, both are important.

My dad is the best Somali dad ever.

My dad spoiled me in the past whereas my mom spoils me now.

I can't pick one over the other....but I think everyone loves their hoyoo a bit more than their Abo. We all have a special place in our hearts for our moms.

I love my Abo. I have so much respect for him because he grew up without a mother and father. He was an orphan that was raised by his half sister. He was literally living in poverty, but he got himself out of that situation by excelling and working very hard in school. He ended up getting a masters degree in Scotland. He's the only one in his family that got an education, succeeded and left Somalia. Unlike so many Somali fathers that just stay home and live off of welfare and chew khat all day , my Abo never once relied on welfare or even chewed khat infront of us. He always worked hard and was a real man.

My hoyoo is a Somali Queen. There are no words to describe my love for her.

Choosing one over the other is irrational to me! They've both done a great dealing in raising me to be the man that I'am today. If theirs a third option for both, my vote will be that.
