South Africa is an example showing how development is not linear. You can be in a structured, industrialized, diversified, never reaching the "developed" stage. South Africa is the closest thing that we come to the depiction of how developed countries will decline despite never reaching the developed stage in the first place.

That is the negative realization. But the positive flipside is that developing countries can grow in new ways outside the expected paths if they exercise independent, experimental policies.

Africa in itself has potential because of its high natural resources but it’s their government that sucks.

if you look at Africa’s high resources you’d know we would’ve been building castle out of diamonds.

But to pick which africa country has potential would be: Rwanda, Kenya and Nigeria.

Somalia;

1. Vast resources; oil reserves, gas, gemstone belt, uranium, salt and other minerals, etc
2. Location; most strategically located African country, with two giant waterways, perfect for a massive blue economy consisting of ports, shipyards, liners, fisheries, etc.
3. Two standing rivers that are bigger than Europe’s largest rivers, perfect for hydro dams and irrigation projects to unleash a Green Revolution.
4. Sizeable and young population that could be uplifted to high income status in one or two generations.
5. Livestock; country has millions of cows, sheep, goats and camels. Ideally slaughtered in Berbera, Burco, Bosaso, Mogadishu and Kismayo at local modern abattoirs to capture the trillion dollar halal meat industry.
6. Technology; fast and cheap internet connectivity; perfect for the rise of a gig economy where the new generation of young Somalis skilled in programming, UX design, graphic design, etc can join the huge remote job market.
7. Diaspora; 1.5 million people, mixed bag with lots of potential in the long run for Somalia, be it initiating political alliances between Somalia and their host countries, diaspora Somali shops importing products manufactured in Somalia, the diaspora returning with skills and investments, etc.
8. Tourism; ancient cities, beautiful landscapes, serene beaches, etc.
