d&m don't descend from the south, they entered the south in the 16th century after reer samaale and they are also lamagoodleLamagoodles originated in the north, while D&M originated in the south. I read this theory that both of them are descended from a proto-Somali population that lived in southern Ethiopia.
We entered the south in the 13th century actually not 16th. Second of all when we entered we encountered Gaala Madow people in which we converted to Islam and banished those who denied Islam.d&m don't descend from the south, they entered the south in the 16th century after reer samaale and they are also lamagoodle
D&M are from modern day Oromia, they used to live there until the Oromo invasionLamagoodles originated in the north, while D&M originated in the south. I read this theory that both of them are descended from a proto-Somali population that lived in southern Ethiopia.
From what I've read, Af-maay speakers branched off from the proto-Somali population thousands of years ago and then began migrating to the southern rivers. The Af-Maxaa Tidhi speakers went north. We entered the south in the 13th century actually not 16th. That could be true. There were definitely cushitic living in the south before us Reewins. I can't confirm if they were hawiye or other samaales. But according to oral traditions they were gaalos and were pushed out due to them refusing to accept the religion. From what I've read, Af-maay speakers branched off from the proto-Somali population thousands of years ago and then began migrating to the southern rivers. Hawiye presence in the south has been recorded since at least the 12th century. If D&M migrated south in the 13th like you said, this means Lamagoodles came to the south before them.
Who's D&M? Thanks in advanceD&M are from modern day Oromia, they used to live there until the Oromo invasion
Digil iyo Mirifle. They are a tribal confederation in the south who speak the Af-maay dialect.Who's D&M? Thanks in advance
Confederation. We aint no confederation. We are just as authentic clan as Hawiye Daarood and Dir.Digil iyo Mirifle. They are a tribal confederation in the south who speak the Af-maay dialect.
I didn't mean that you guys aren't related to each other, I meant that you are a collection of major sub-clans with a common origin, just like Hawiye and Darood.Confederation. We aint no confederation. We are just as authentic clan as Hawiye Daarood and Dir.
actually D%M orginated from shabelle riverLamagoodles originated in the north, while D&M originated in the south. I read this theory that both of them are descended from a proto-Somali population that lived in southern Ethiopia.
Shabelle where Arsi now live. I have a theory that the jrers on the Shabelle are related to the omotic people who even today live in that area as iron and tanning workers for the oromo, and why D&M lack a madhibaan section living among them like the other Somali clansactually D%M orginated from shabelle river
yes, around the bale and shabelle, nahh they were brought by hawiye and ajuranShabelle where Arsi now live. Shiidle and Makaane lineages are too long for them to be descended from slaves, and they’ve clearly lived among Somalis for a long period of time. Maybe their numbers have been bolstered by escaped slaves and outcaste ethnic Somalis, but I think the core of them was probably omotic “madhibaan”, who lived among the early D&M like the konso and burji do today among the Borana.yes, around the bale and shabelle, nahh they were brought by hawiye and ajuran
The whole region was always Cushitic. It's just somalis moved in and killed the other tribes. That could be true. There were definitely cushitic living in the south before us Reewins. I can't confirm if they were hawiye or other samaales. But according to oral traditions they were gaalos and were pushed out due to them refusing to accept the religion.
The only South Cushites that are still around are the Iraqw, the rest have been assimilated into Bantus and some have travelled as far as South Africa mixing in with the local population and bringing pastoralism to the locals. The whole region was always Cushitic. It's just somalis moved in and killed the other tribes.
Much of Cushitic Kenya would've been recently lost to Bantu expansion.
