I had to learn it at home. My parents were like; you have learn how to read Arabic before Somali, since it's of higher importance due to the deen. And I grew up with Arabic TV channels. Can't say that I'm not grateful :denzelnigga:
I went to dugsi for 15 years, started when I was 4. The moment we were potty trained and able to speak, we were off to dugsi in my family looooool! :deadpeter: stopped going when I was 19 due to hectic collage life. My mother is already thinking of us to go back after college graduation :pachah1: :mjlol: :deadpeter:

Omg, exact same experience here. Took forever for me to learn the Quran; from a toddler until upper teenager. To make matter worse, always be reminded of how quick they learn back home. Like please have patience with me, it's already hard as it is.

Nah i finished in 5th grade. My mother didn't play when it came to Quran, whipped the shit out of me. Made me attend summer dugsi in addition to normal dugsi every year until high school. I'm think of going back for memorization in a few years, my Quran isn't what it used to be :francis:

It was pretty bad. It was tradition to start dugsi a year before kindergarden in my family.

My quran memorization is really good. I'm confident in that :gaasdrink: its my understanding that sucks :francis:

Great for you, I've been lacking lately. I need to get back soon and improve. Certain parts of the Quran I'll never forget, while others need a continuous revisitation for me to maintain in my memory. :jcoleno:
