Where are all the promised port and highway projects?

There were many high level projects that were announced last year. Many of them haven't started and have no definite start date (no money, no main contractor has been assigned) Surprise surprise.


For example, we were meant to have a garacad port, Hobyo port, some port in some Abgaal toolo right next Mog (lmao), Barawe port, kismaayo port, and an ceel macaan port. These geeljires must have been bullshitting us lol. Do geeljire politicians just announce impossible projects for political gain or something? Not only that some of these projects are a joke. Why would somebody build you a piece of infrastructure to the tune of 100-400mil in the most unstable and improverished regions of the most failed state for free.

I have a hard time believing some of these projects were even going to happen.

You need security first. I know it's cliche but really it is of utmost importance. For any meaningful construction to take place Somalia will need a cohort of foreign contractors to oversee the project, as far as I know the security situation prevent many of them from coming. No one is going to go Somalia to get killed.
