This is what the temp was last year in January. No amount of water could (economically) save this crop. (keep in mind that it really suffers after like 25 C)View attachment 377575

Damn for such a fertile region the south is very hot, I wonder if the north could be more fertile if we plant more vegetation and build dams

I am not familiar with what the north has in terms of soil, here is a thread for that. https://www.somalispot.com/threads/somalia-soil-map.145297/

But if I were to guess, it could be done but alot of infrastructure would need to be built (and it would be more economical to grow more established crops anyway due to economy of scale)
