What's the hype about Turkey can someone explain it to me?

I have my annoying cousins in Sudan who always send me pictures of Istanbul on whatsapp and tell me about how they dream about going there, then I have friends on Insta/Snap who are always going there every two months. You never heard of Greece? Spain? Italy?, there are many better destinations than Turkey.
