My mum thinks he loved the country and was a strong character unlike todays Somali leaders, but obviously he fucked up.

a mixed bag.

He was infinitely better than pretty much every leader to come after him, but he made multiple clear mistakes.

He was foolish to base his nation on communism rather than islam, and it bit him in the but because daddy russia was notorious for betraying allies that didn't follow their commands like slaves.

furthermore he made mistakes that led to the weakening of the state which caused civil war.

On the flip side there are many good things about his rule that people don't like to admit.

He made a good education system, he fixed and developed the cities, he strengthened the military and state, and much more.

I wish the people never rebelled against him, but I also wished somalia never had him too.

He was better than what was after, but was by no means good himself!
