What would you say is the key to saving Somalia

The nation has grappling with a thirty plus year civil war and the country has gone back in every metric possible relative to where it was pre 1977 how does this get fixed. What do we need, a civilian uprising against al-kebab holding politicians accountable making us a military police state until a centralised govt is implemented how exactly do we fix this.

Moving the capital to a neutral area owned by the government, 2 term president, strict restrictions on the central government, more autonomy for internal politics within member states, independent anti-corruption department managed and vetted by external auditors.

I want a cultural revolution.

More poets, less millitary.

More guntiinos, less abayas.

More garbarsaar, less jilbaab.

More osomanya, less latin alphabets.

More ancient somali celebrations, less arab and western imports.

More pride, less shame.

More aspirational women, less asinine men.

More family planning, less on-the-whim babymaking.

More swahili architecture, less ugly western sky rises.

Better tolerance and treatment of strays (yes even dogs), less fearful shunning arms starvation.

More outspoken women, less shame for victims of sexual crimes.

More community, less clanism.

And above all, education.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk

1. Somali architecture is distinct to Swahili architecture, why adopt it?
2. Clans are community, no two ways about it, but yes we should work towards a lasting peace
3. Arab imports? Wdym
4. More poets and more military

the rest of the list is more less up for debate but can be considered

- Merit-based society over qabil or who you know.
- Eradicate corruption.
- Be strict on criminals and abusers. You can’t get run away from what you did.
- Empower women. Tell them to pursue an education before they have a child.
- Invest in Somali jobs/businesses and Free education for the masses
- Help the poor and sick.
- Banning polygamy for men that are broke.
- If you abandon your spouse and children I will jail you indefinitely. And make you work hard labour.
- Family planning courses. Abos and Hooyos need to play an active role in raising their kids. Be familiar with nutrition and depression. Also teach both parents how to raise kids and cook for them.

the current system needs to be thrown out, things like changing the capital or giving autonomy will not solve the rampant corruption

You seem to love the white man Africans can govern themselves
Show me a single Black African country that has proven this?
the west is weak there troops are used to sitting in a cafe 24/7 won’t survive a day in Somalia
Somalians have literal third world nations defending them while being funded by the EU. Let NATO excluding the US colonize Somalians. It will make Somalia a semi-developed nation probably on par with those North African States & non-oil Middle Eastern States. That would be a huge upgrade for Somalians.

I could agree with you but then we’d both be wrong

Everyone of the above answers is logical but I'm not sure if any of the responders directly touched the root cause of our problems. Before you solve something you need to understand the root cause of it.

Somalia has a major problems, but what's the root cause behind these ever expanding issues?!

I would say tribalism is the root cause of our downfall.
In my own assessment the solution is following steps in order:
  1. Social reconciliation between the Somali clans. Return of the looted properties, seeking each other's forgiveness for past injustices.
  2. Political reconciliation and the creation of a complete federal constitution that's not contradicting the religion.
  3. Creation of a strong army that has 150k minimum soldiers.
  4. Drilling for our natural resources such as: oil, petroleum, gas, gold, uranium and other rare earth minerals.
  5. Focusing on the essential infrastructure like roads, schools, universities, hospitals, ports, airports, huge markets etc.
  6. If we successfully extract our natural resources we wouldn't need to tax Somali workers and employees, thus attracting foreign investment from all over the world.

I would say we still lack a president who has the mental capacity to unite our people and heal the old lingering wounds. Farmaajo and HSM didn't even understand the core problems of our society imo.

The only thing that Somalia needs right now is

Correct Aqeedah. Some Somalis don’t even know their aqeedah which leads to several problems

Let the EU colonize Somalia.
Somalia is already colonized. The 4.5 system and the constitution are all products of western state building. The truth is that if somalis had the chance to figure out their issue they would probably slaughter each other for sometime but then find a workable solution. Things in Somalia could have been solved in the mid 90s if foreign powers didn't step in to make things worse
