The continent of Africa needs a renaissance sparked by the intellectuals of each region to propagate development based on self-reliance. Unfortunately in recent history (ie last 500 years) Africa has been at the mercy of being exploited by people not from the mainland due to the common people not having the deterministic beliefs of western society. Similar to individuals on welfare, nations who are able to stay afloat due to aid and other subsidiaries will not be able to flourish.
I am not surprised this bantu fellow feels this way because just about all of the poorest nations in the world have a predominantly Bantu population and most of them are relatively "peaceful" and they still can't produce any palpable advancements. If we focus on our issues as somalis it would be in complete contrast to his claims of causing stagnation. We as a people are cursed with being too prideful to accept leadership from anyone other than our extended families, couple that with certain clan groups being inherently uncivilized and it spells disaster.
We can only improve our respective nations if we provide a jumpstart of ideas and initiatives as a group of intelligentsia like the enlightenment period in Europe. It starts with a campaign of improving overall human capital and making sure our citizens have the know-how and aptitude to be active members of society.

Well that's how lobby groups are formed. The Israeli lobby group in America (AIPAC) is so influential because of their large numbers in America and concentrate on jobs in Finance/Law to ensure their financial leverage can be used to sway politicians in washington to give Israel 37billion+ in aid yearly. Somalis can employ this same tactic over generations, however we would need a group of highly ambitious and focused individuals to make this a reality. Colonization is only about numbers to a certain extent, in MN we have a solid amount of representation in accordance to our population. The next step is to increase our representation in the financial/legal sectors.

This is the only thing you can do as a writer when you see the masses of your people brainwashed, impoverished and spiritless.

From what I have observed from all African's and also people from the middle east, the greatest awakening in youth is actually happening with the younger Bantu generation.

I find them to be the most conscious and awake from all the other ethnic groups I have spoken to of which Somali's in general are by far the worst!

You will either find a Somali who is completely clueless about everything including his own surroundings and the politics of the land he lives in.

Or you will find the quasi pseudo intellectuals still dabbling in tribal discourses, backing corrupt leaders, war criminals and western stooges for the sake of qabiil.
