The trick is to go to an ajinabi barber before Eid and get a cut for $20-30. I come back to the Somali barbershops afterwards. I never pay more than $40 and that includes the tip.
My two nephews called me the other day to take them to their favorite Somali barber. I know the dude. I am aware that the guy is asking for $60 a cut. They are totally packed today because it’s the weekend of the Eid.
Therefore I have improvised. I am taking them to a madoow that has no idea about Eid (for just $30…ever since the pandemic the Haircut price has risen tremendously ).
