Egyptian rulers are secularists and no better than a non Muslim rulers. That's my impression atleast.

Yeah, I know that. I was just interested in knowing how you react (especially a foreigner to the issue) when two countries have severe issues which in turn can spill into a conflict; one with a Muslim majority and the other with a Muslim plurality population.

I’ve seen Muslim scheikhs say the same, that they would side with Egypt because of the deen. I probably would too, as long as it doesn’t directly affect us/Somalis. But it’s just an interesting observation I made, that got me thinking.

This is more morbid than the other answers but I suppose my biggest fear is aging and meeting my demise without having lived a life worth living. I don’t want to waste my one chance at life tbh.

Societal issues do make me uneasy but I am good at compartmentalizing so that doesn’t effect my state of mind. It’s easy for me to tune stuff out.

I can relate, as Muslim we believe in an after life where your soul would live on as seperate entity from your dead body.. But logically I've asked my self over and over again how is this possible? I can't find any good explanation into this, other than Allah knows best.

The actions that I take that steer the course of my life breaks me out in a cold sweat. F*cking up isn’t an option to me.

Unlike most Somalis who hate Ethiopia for obvious reasons I think I'm neutral in this.. When Ethiopia and Somalia had a war not many arab or Muslim nations supported us.. In politics there is no Muslim unity.. The Islamic brotherhood exists but between us on an individual basis regardless of nations or borders.

I've been here since forever. I don't think anyone really cares except sometimes people use it if they have a disagreement with me.

People here have seen how I post. If I post Muslim content on the Spanish-speaking internet, I just get flooded with anti-Islam hate stuff. Imo I have more in common with Muslims from other parts of the world than with any non-Muslims. I was on a Pakistani board as well but they didn't have dark mode and it hurt my eyes. Plus it was kind of secular.

Islam is the right way for every single people in the world. Any society, any culture- if you study it, know its language, understand its problems- wallahi every single time the only right way for them is Islam.

I honestly don't know much about Somalis but I just like that I can casually discuss things from a Muslim point of view and this board is more than like 90% Muslim.

Arab countries are disunited themselves, let alone considering non-Arab Muslim countries. Look at how they are destabilizing and supporting wars against each other?

I’m not speaking for myself, since y’all probably already know my views of Ethiopia, and that I don’t care about anything to do with other than the Somali region in the country and how their actions may affect Somalia/other Somali territory as well.

But to give you a food for thought, how do you @Omar del Sur resonate when you think about the fact that Ethiopia’s population is almost half Muslims and one of the most Muslim populated countries, irrespective of your views towards the state being run by non-Muslims. Do you view Muslims differently, or do you base your views solely on the size of Muslims in any given country?

Water is more important than electricity or whatever Ethiopia wants to do with that barrage. More than 90% of Egyptians live in a small strip of land because of the river, Imagine this being risked because of superficial things like electricity which the Ethiopians can develop by damming any of their other rivers.

Ethiopian Muslims are marginalized; most of them live in the lowlands/Eastern parts and the Dam will be built in the North, so if even electricity was created from that Damming they will be the last to benefit.

I think you bring up a good point. But one thing I want to emphasize is that I have empathy not only for Muslims but also for non-Muslims. I don't wish bad even for innocent non-Muslims.

Wallahi it isn't that I don't feel sympathy for the hardships that the people in Ethiopia go through. I understand they go through a lot.

However- what makes me decisively on the side of Egypt is that imo this is not an existential issue for Ethiopia in the way that it is for Egypt. Yes, the dam would help them economically. But at what cost for the Egyptians??? The Ethiopians can survive without the dam. But Egypt needs water for its survival.

So I think clearly- the right way is to support Egypt in this issue. Another thing is...

putting other considerations to the side... what is in the interest of Muslims as an Ummah? Egypt is an extremely important country. the loss of Egypt I believe would significantly weaken Muslims as an ummah.

Muslims are interconnected whether they realize it or not. So I'm very much on the side of Egypt in regards to this issue. It isn't that that I don't have empathy for the hardships of Ethiopians but it's that I think it's existential for the Egyptians in a way it isn't for the Ethiopians. And what is a more powerful Ethiopia going to do anyways? myself personally, I do not really trust Ethiopia to be honest. do I really want Ethiopia to be more powerful in terms of its military ability? I really question what Ethiopia would use its power for.

Exactly- that's how I feel. I don't wish bad for Ethiopians or lack empathy for them or anything that. But like I said in my post- I think this is existential for Egypt that it isn't for Ethiopia.

She means Palestine is a nation with it's own flag and their political leadersship is not based on Islam.. The Palestinians have also Christians and other non Muslims among their ranks. You can Google it yourself.

The best outcome with consideration to the current state/reality of Ethiopia would be hoping for a new gov’t, a Muslim-led, that’s pro-Islam, pro-Somali (those living there) and pro-Somalia/Djibouti.

It would relieve us from a lot of trouble as well. As of today, Ethiopia are definitely not our allies in any shape of form. The contrary is unfortunately more accurate.

Ethiopia is working on destabilizing our country as we speak. They don't want strong Somali government because they think it will be a threat to their unjust sovereignty over the Ogaden. More than 100 years ago they invaded our lands with Europeans' help and occupied half of it. Do you think Somalis choose and are happy to be subjects of foreign Christian country/people? No no no we will plot against them as they plotted against us for that is the norm of life if you aren't mentally defeated
