What role did Somalis play in the Dhohar War (Oman)?

I’ve read comments on here saying that Somalis were given special privileges and citizenship in Oman because they sided and fought for the Omani King during the Dhofar Rebellion.

But I can’t find anything on this. @Shimbiris @convincation @Apollo

Can y’all help me?

I have no idea my family in Muscat are half citizen and the other half aren't. Said Barres family also live relatively close to us in Mascut.

Did you not go ask around history wise and get acquainted with the place and the somalis there or did you go for resort?
I didn’t even know there were Somalis there back then, I was taken by surprise. You think I was scavenging for Somali locals? No nigga I was drinking my piña colada mocktail on beach somewhere in Salalah.

Speaking of Oman, @Qeelbax did you know the man in your pfp had some strange rumors about his personal life.
The rumors that he was gay because he never had children? Who knows and who cares. The guy was married for 3 years but they divorced and he swore off marriage. Some people are so evil spreading such rumors.

So what’s the history
A fellow Omani Aqeeli Hashimate told me this. Hope you appreciate it.

Somalians came to Oman as merchants of frankincense (Luban). They used to collect frankincense from the hills in Dhofar and sell it in the main markets on the coast. This was in the 19th century to early 20th century; their numbers were close to 5000 individuals mostly males at this time. Then after war world 2, things have changed and Luban become unattractive for the Somalian merchants to remain in Dhofar, so most of them left back to Somalia.

Because they were famous for their military experience as warriors( Somalian tribesmen) the sultan found a chance to use them to guard his farms, prisons and some military issues But he did not use them to put down a revolution, because they were not in his army officially and second they weren’t that many to get them into wars.
