What Prophet Muhammad PBUH said about tribalism

Jubayr ibn Mut’im reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said,

“He is not one of us who calls to tribalism. He is not one of us who fights for the sake of tribalism. He is not one of us who dies following the way of tribalism.”

Indeed akhi. Tribalism does nothing,but divide us.

Don't forget that this hadith isn't just about tribalism, although it is partly. Ibn Khaldun for example defined Asabiyyah as a bond of cohesion between people in a community, whether that community be a tribe, city, or nation. So Asabiyyah also refers to nationalism and regionalism as well as tribalism and xenophobia. As Allah says in the Qur'an, the believer is a brother to the believer.

Its easier said than done. Tribalism in Somalis is like Oxygen. I know extremely religious Somalis, who upon insulting their qabil, will stop speaking to me. ( or cross the streets to avoid me in the market, I giggle, and sometimes I ask myself should I follow them to torment them? But I let it go lol)


Who are they lying to then? Where is their loyalty? Islam or Tribalism? That is why inshalaah Allaah swt willing, I will go to heaven because I insult my qabil more often than other qabils to make a point! ( or it could be proof of my insanity)

No. Japan is around 80% mountaneous and too infertile to yield crops. Their clan system and wars were proabably more brutal than Somalia's, yet, look at where they are now! it's little to do with resources in this era. We're not cavemen anymore lol

If u look into pre-modern Japanese history, before firearms, Japan had a deep rooted clan-based society which was part of the feudal system AKA there are lords ruling over the land and the people living in their land were farmers and payed them tribute.

But what's more impressive is that Japan has: earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons, little fertile terrain and most of it is mountaneous! add that to the fact that they were a feudal-clan based society and u can't compare it to Somalis, we're a joke.

Not every Japanese person belonged to a clan. Roughly 20-30% of the Japanese population belonged to one of the noble clans that were further divided into aristocratic families who had significant societal roles, such as Samurais, Lords etc. The remaining 70-80% of the population had no clan and simply identified as Japanese.

Social status in Pre-Meji Japan was largely determined by your profession.

Until Somalia obtains a resource surplus (which will happen sometime between Never and Ever) tribalism shall indeed rule; for it is a natural way of increasing your slim chances of access to an ever slimming amount of resources. So we Somalis were never and will never be real Muslims. Sad!
