What on Earth is going on in Gedo Region?

Gedo is the size of Virginia with limited access.

The Gobol is a sleeping giant. It can feed Somalia and has one of Africa's largest deposits of Iron Ore.

Until the people of Gedo can value their Gobol more than the fear of a rag tag militia, the situation will be difficult to change.

The governments budget is limited and cannot build the required mini bases to station a few thousand men and military assets in the region. The hope on the ground is from the people of Gedo providing intel to the government officials on thier whereabouts.

Inshallah we get 5-10,000 men stationed in camps around every region to suppress and eliminate thier organizational efforts.

In Bari it's the same problem because the mountains are virtually impossible to access and monitor without a major military offensive. The only thing working for the Puntland government; is the most cost effective solution--locals providing intel and cooperating with liaisons to give information on suspicious activity.
You need to reference where you're getting these natural resources found in the region from, explorations haven't been done in most regions in Somalia. You say a different resource for every gobol as if its well documented and factually correct. let's be realistic bro and stop sheeko somali

Garre live in NFD/Ethiopia, they don't have much of a presence in Somalia. Only few refugees who fled from conflicts with Oromos but they are far from being the majority in Ceel-Waq.

Luuq may have some minorty clans but likewise it's 99 % Marehan. If you are talking about the Surre then don't even have 1 MP representing them in Jubaland, so how can it be shared? I think the largest minority in Luuq is Raxanweyn.

The Rahanweyn and Ogaden who lived in Bardheere have been long pushed out as well.

Gedo is one of the few regions in the South that is completely dominated by one clan just like Northern Somalia.

Read the report sxb. Garre are the majority in Ceel Waaq town (the capital of Ceel Waaq district) but minority in the district.

"Garre-Marehan tensions are profound and driven by competition for control and ownership of El-Wak town. Tensions are most pronounced in El Wak where the Garre are a majority in the town though a minority in the district. "

Ceel Waaq is a divided border town that has a Kenya side and a Somalia side. The Garre dominate the Kenyan side since they live in NFD.

It is simple because Gedo is not 1 clan based region but diverse one. For example the district capital of Ceel Waaq district (Ceel Waaq aka God's well) is majority Garre while the Dir have a strong presence in Luuq. There is also a large Rahanweyn population in Bardheere district.

Clan Analysis: Gedo Marehan: The Marehan in Gedo Region include the guri and galti who have often been divided into competing political groups. The definition and classification of guri and galti varies in different parts of Somalia. Historically, the majority of Somalis were nomadic pastoralists moving throughout the region in search of fresh pastures for their livestock. Marehan clans first migrated to the area now referred to as Gedo Region in the nineteenth century. Guri Marehan communities developed traditional leadership systems and customs in peaceful co-existence with neighbouring clans. Dir: Dir sub-clans are primarily found in Luuq District. Marehan and Dir sub-clans were at peace until they fought in Galgaduud following the creation of a new district designated for Dir clans in territory traditionally considered Marehan. The conflict was resolved but tensions remain and are related to control of Luuq. Dir sub-clans are strong supporters of the southern ASWJ force and have historical alliances with various Ogaden, Rahanweyn, and Garre communities. Garre: Garre (Rahanweyn) sub-clans are primarily found in El Wak District. Garre-Marehan tensions are profound and driven by competition for control and ownership of El-Wak town. Tensions are most pronounced in El Wak where the Garre are a majority in the town though a minority in the district. Traditionally Garre and guri Marehans sub-clans have had stronger relations compared to those with galti Marehan sub-clans. In July 2005 the largely Marehan-based Juba Valley Alliance under Barre Hiraale seized El Wak town from the Garre. The Garre-Marehan Peace Agreement of 2005, brokered with support from Kenya, led to the withdrawal of the Marehan militia. This agreement has been respected and enforced by traditional elders and religious leaders from both clans.

This guys knows the Abtriis of every camel in Somalia.

I was at a 2 hour geology forum by a Somali PHD Geologist Professor who shared the reports.

The conclusion was every Gobol in Somalia has something unique to offer. There's trillions of dollars worth of resources in Somalia.

Yes Gedo is underdeveloped for now however alx Gedo and Jubbaland as a whole is on the right track Gedo never had the luxury of Siad Barre building it a highway the snakes through the whole gobol or building it a deep water sea port starting from scratch isn't easy especially without the foundation in place keep your ignorance to a minimum and tread lightly lest we forget :fredo:
Relax my friend. It's just a bit of kaftan. I meant no disrespect. Some of my best friends are Marehan.

Some folks would like us to believe their qabiil narratives rather than facts, because real facts shows that gobols with 1 single dominated clan are stable and united then those that aren't, just simple facts suffices that GEDO is a mixed gobol that has all Somali Clans.

Indeed if Gedo was only 1 clan region it would have been peaceful like Nugaal.

:kanyeshrug:Like i said before bro, south will never stabilise with the federalism bandwagon, too much different ''muh qabiil'' folks reside there to be sustainable.

Somalia should have only 2 states North and South Somali states and maybe 3 federal states, Somaliland South Somalia and Puntland.

Anything more than that its doomed to fail.

:rejoice: Our Father Aabo Siyad, who settled my family in Kismayo. God bless him and All Beesha Marexan in general

Gedo is 90% marehan if not more. The only gobols in the south with 1 qabil dominating it.:draketf: Their problem is that they have been waiting for a central government instead as the great philosopher @LarryThePuntite said, should have focussed on thier gobol. Gedo can feed us all

Unlike the people who disagree with this, I'm from that region and this is on point.
