The Shafi‘i and Hanbali schools regard it as binding on all Muslims, both males and females.[1][2] According to Shafi‘i and Hanbali jurists both male and female circumcision are legally obligatory for Muslims,[1][2] while Hanafi jurists consider circumcision to be recommendable exclusively for Muslim males on the seventh day after birth.[2] The Salafi[27] website IslamQA.info, founded by the Saudi Arabian Salafi scholar Muhammad Al-Munajjid, has quoted some hadith to argue that the requirement of circumcision in Islam is based on the covenant with Abraham, that male circumcision is obligatory for Muslim men in order to provide ritual cleanliness while the purpose of female circumcision for Muslim women is to "regulate" and reduce their sexual desires.[26]

It's usually somali women who support this practice men generally are against it but can't interfere in women culture or xeer practice

Thats BS Somali men back in the days used to marry only circumcised girls if the girl wasn’t she was considered a h** excuse my language. I understand you’re a young man but ask your father, uncles and grandfathers it was different for them. Somalis are more enlightened now but they used to be quite barbaric just 30 years ago.

Nah you got it wrong it's women in our society especially older women who push for the FGM practice to be continued and often they're the ones pressuring younger mothers to do FGM to their girls.

If a girl has fgm then she is more likely to be chaste and a virgin before marriage. And less likely to cheat when their nomadic husbands go away for long periods of time searching for grazing land and water.

??? Why don’t men get their nerve endings cut off.... so many women have not had FGM done and remain chaste. This is just evil and cruel
