This is where it depends on the school of thought like I said. For the Shafi'i the type of circumcision is obligatory to perform it and it is done in a way to curb the female's enjoyment during sex. However, the hanifi school see it differently as they perform the circumcision in a way that pardon my crude language exposes the C-word which can either cause it to be extremely sensitive or painful depending on the women. To them, this enhances the pleasure during sex but to others exposing the nerves like that can be painful after a while. As most of Somalia and the horn practice Shafi'i madhab we, unfortunately, got the short end of the stick when it comes to FGM.
