Why does he want to run for the presidency when he is already president of puntland. Does he want to transform the constitution to favor his region? Solidify his clans power in Somalia through a constitution?

Somalia is the top job, more ability to create a legacy like getting rid of AS, starting election system, finishing the constitution, run more than one term (isn’t his term in Puntland ending in a couple years?).

I believe Deni grew up in Muqdisho/South. He ran for the elections in 2017 already too.

That is a good question, but his region hosted the constitutional roadmap in 2012 and had major influence with Abdiwali Gaas and at the time it birthed a provisional constitution. Maybe he wants to have full influence over the completion as well.

FGS Presidency was always his main goal since 2017. He just became PL Pres to keep his name and face in the media for this moment.

Maybe Deni believes that as secession is impossible for Puntland, eventually his home state will need to come under the control of the federal government to no longer be isolated from Somalia's renaissance and positive economic transformation hence why only he can be the President of Somalia in order for Puntites to accept FGS rule
