Okay , when you mentioned these two concepts are intrinsically bound , then why aren't you acknowledging that for thousands of years our ancestors were practitioners of Waaq , before embracing Islam , but since you believe Somalinimo necessitates islamnimo. Then do you believe Somalis were nothing , had no culture , history before embracing Islam?
do we even know what ancestors went through ,
Something is odd there , the expansion in the horn had altered and distorted people's lineages and created vacuum of conflicting narratives
I'll have to safe you from humiliation sxb your statement is contradictory
It's funny how you're quick to label someone a non Somali without thinking thoroughly.
Nope , Somalis are a xenophobic bunch to clans they despise or those who are considered unworthy and that existed for centuries, so don't even deny that
Waaq
Every time
There is a phenomenon known as concept drift: over such long lengths of time as that you are referring to, the properties of a discrete group like Somalis may change whilst remaining internally and externally recognised as being Somali. The changing of a religion of an ethnic group rarely results in ethnogenesis when there is such a widespread uptake of the new religion.
Point in case, Bosnians. They are considered to be coterminous with Islam within the community and by their neighbours in the Balkans, the Croats and Serbs. This identification powerfully influenced the nature of the Yugoslav wars. However, prior to the Ottoman conquest, they were mainly Christians and adherents of the Bosnian Church. This is concisely depicted in "The Bosnian Muslims: Denial of a Nation" by Francine Friedman.
This doesn't conflict with my previous statements. Somalinimo and Islamnimo remains intrinsically linked thanks to the overwhelming supermajority of Somalis being Muslim and their willingness to ostracise (and, practically, de-Somalise) out-and-out apostates.
I don't see any widespread Waaq practice in Somalia. The whole concept of Waaq within the Somali community has been revived by desperate apostates trying to claim that they are being loyal to their distant ancestors.
If you're not going to be persuaded, at least stop coping so hard on Somalispot. It's embarrassing.
