Americans were training the Ethiopian airforce before the war even began they taught ethiopeans this special dogfighting technique of turning off the radar flying low and letting ground support troops guide them through the radios to inform them of the locations of the Somali jets this technique was so affective though it almost destroyed the entire Somali airforce

Let bygones be bygones. Somalia is a failed project and will continue to be so, as long as we fight amongst ourselves.

America only gave token support whilst Ethiopia was given billions of aid from the communist bloc, airlifts, soviet generals going there as advisors to build Ethiopia a functional military. As Ethiopia was crushed by siad barre in just 3 weeks and the war was looking to be a quick Somali victory.

Even Cuban and South Yemeni soldiers went to ogaden region to fight the Somalis.
