How do you think it would have turned out?

@Amun what are your thoughts?

The main barrier preventing Islam and Muslim armies from penetrating south of the Sahara was tsetse fly. Their cavalry would die by the diseases. So Islam would have penetrated deep inside SSA if tsetse fly didn't exist.

In Somalia, tsetse provided areas of refuge to the agricultural clans and to runaway slaves. These areas are becoming smaller and less protective with tsetse trapping, veterinary management, and widespread deforestation for charcoal production.

Somali Shaykh Uways al Baraawe was not stopped by tsetse.

"Sheick Uweys accounted for a considerable expansion of Islam in Tanganyika, Southern Somalia, Eastern Congo (former Zaire), parts of Mozambique and Malawi, the Comoro Islands and Northwest of Madagascar."

For a second, I thought you were referring to the impact on the agricultural sector.
