What do you think of Somalis who don't learn Somali?

Not that long ago, I received a post on my wall from an SSpot member stating that I should "go back to Somalia if I cared so much about the Somali culture and language."

This made me think about the current attitudes diaspora Somalis have towards the Somali language.

Is it inherently wrong if you never bothered to learn the language?

I never said English was better than Somali you moron. Knowing Somali is not going to help if i'm living in the West. You attacked me, and put me down for not knowing fluent Somali, so yes that is belittling. If you actually wanted to help me than you'd give me tips instead of bashing me, but you clearly didn't!

You speak Somali right? So you must have some magical ability to automatically improve Somalia rather than I can, and you're a whole grown man! Go back to Somalia and develop then! Aaaaw miskiin. I cant imagine how hard it must have been. We spoke spoke at home and I made an effort in my teens to speak only somali with my friends. The older you get the harder it becomes

I'm living in an English-speaking country. How are you going to shame me and other Somalis who live outside of Somalia for not knowing Somali as if it's our fault?

We don't live in a Somali speaking countries, and you guys having this attitude towards Somalis who don't know the language will probably make a lot of them hate Somali culture/Somalis seeing how judgmental Somalis can be.

I don't care. All those points you tried to make were completely stupid. If every Somali youth knew how to fluently speak Somali, would Somalia be in a better state? Absolutely not. This thread is a joke, and you clearly made it in spite of me.
