What do you think is holding Africa back?

Somalia is most similar to Sudan and Egypt in terms of culture and being majority Sunni Muslim, we have nothing in common with the rest of Africa though.

Lack of competent and Uncorrupted leaders. One example of this is South Africa, who lost billions to corruption. Another is South Sudan, DR John garang must be rolling in his grave. Somalia is too far gone.

In Africa it's not only corruption. Most colonizers have a hand in the affairs of African countries. The guys put in position of power are compromised even before they take the seat. Asia has many corrupt leaders but they are better than African countries. So we can't blame corruption only.

The loss of that great man set us back by decades; the man was a visionary leader that would have honoured centuries of resistance, bravery and sacrifice. Our Moses is with our ancestors now.

I am confident that we will rise above our current condition and become so much more than we are now.

The interference.

You think these despots stay in power because of the will of the people?

Nearly every somewhat capable leader in Africa has been assassinated or deposed.

All bankrolled by foreign powers that prefer a resource rich Africa with corrupt governance.

Add trade restrictions to the list, African countries are taxed heavily if/when they export products to European countries but if/when European countries export their products to African countries they don't face the same issue.. An example could be powdered milk which are exported and consumed in African countries this milk is much cheaper than fresh milk which results in local farmers not being able to compete, back in Europe the farmers get support from the state, so there's no balance in the competition... Then you ask yourself why can't African countries put similar tax in place, but they can't if they do the EU will punish them by cutting on foreign aid.. Foreign aid is not designed to help or develop countries it is designed to keep them dependent on the giver so they can be controlled.

very true, many great leaders but the population isnt ready, they reject progress and have very conservative attitudes, they dont feel remorse about avoiding taxes, beating up innocent people, stealing the nations wealth and recourses.

Africans have a curropt moral compass, its a very violent and brutal continent

There is also economics and geography, the african nations with access to the coast have a better chance to progress. Like Somalia imports many usefull stuff like construction equipment very easily because its close to asia. And we receive assitance from Turkey because we are not that far from the middle-east. We aslo export livestock easily.

So the problem of Africa is that its too large, too many nations are landlocked. Ethiopia would've been more developed if they didnt have to negotiate ports with its neighbours.
