Great civilization
Not a great example of an Islamic empire tho
They were a great empire I like because of the fact colonialism and forcing their culture and language didn't happen unlike other empires.
Nowhere outside of turkey will you see Turkish language and culture being present or dominant.
However the way the empire was run was very inefficient.
The Arabs grew weak and so the natural order for the past 3 thousand years or so of middle eastern history in which the mountain dwellers of anatolia or Perisa ruled the middle east happened again.
The ottomans were like a muslim continuation of the byzantines who were also based out of anatolia and ruled the middle east.
Had the turks not invaded and assimilated the anatolians, we would have saw the middle east be ruled by a hundred million Christian greeks. Judging by the massive Greek influence on Coptic Egyptians, it's likely the greeks would've been spending at least a thousand years christianising and Hellenising the area. Nightmare fuel for any muslim.
Especially as the byzantines had contact with Ethiopia and Christian Sudan. The Solomon dynasty was trying to invade the lowland Islamic Somali lands and they burned down zelia which led to Ahmad Gurey and the Adalites invading Ethiopia and burning down churches and towns in revenge. Had the Christian Sudan and Byzantines been around Somalis would be finished by the Christian empires. Either Christianised or assimilated.
