What do you guys think of this?

According to this, Somalis are new to Southern Somalia and migrated south only relatively recently from the North and displaced the natives of the area who were Oromos (they are also the natives of the Ogaden according to this) :mjkkk:

Gaalkacyo means where the Gaalo ran from.

Gaalo is a derogatory term for Oromos that Somalis used to describe any non-muslim.

This isn't true. Gaal in af-maay means camel. Abgaal and Gaaljecel also mean 'father of camels' and 'camel lovers', the Somali language has changed over the years just like every other language around the world. Nothing to do with Oromos.

The gaal in Gaalkacyo isn't pronounced like that.

Abgaal, Gaaljecel is a different sounding gaal than Gaalkacyo.

Honestly, idk about the rest of Somalia but I was always told that Gaalkacyo was once inhabited by Oromo then were pushed back into Ethiopia. Hence the name, Gaalkacyo.

Lol maybe you can say that for Abgaal, it often sounds more like 'gal'. But you can't deny Gaaljecel, it's pronounced the same as Gaalkacyo.

Only part of Somalia Oromos inhabited was Jubaland (to where the Oromos had expanded from Southern Ethiopia and Northern Kenya) before the Darod expansion (south) in the 19th century. Oromos never reached mudug.

This book talks about the meaning of 'gaal'

It's true Somalis originally were in Modern day Somaliland and then expanded southward as there's 2000-5000 year old archeological sites like LaasGeel Dhaymoole and Dhambalin
