You’re partially right. But life back home for both genders is hard men and tbh most girls once married are very traditional. There is no feminism there, in fact rights for women we take for granted isn’t as much as well. Guys do nothing to help at home even though a good % of the young guys are unemployed and their wives are being funded by their father as the government isn’t young people jobs. So I’ve literally seen young men lounge about whilst the girls wake up at the crack of dawn. The men there do no housework literally. Even brother in laws won’t even wash or fold their own clothes and it will be seen as the duty of the wife of the household or any other woman to take care of the clothes of all the men related or not’s laundry. Seeing that really baffled me. Men are the ultimate emperors there and many of the young don’t even bring in a cent into the house!

I get that some of the girls there can be financial opportunistic and I’ve even seen them hunt down richer older men who are old enough to their dads! But life in gen is a shit show for them and they’re overworked 5x more than their male counterparts.

Somalia needs a cultural overhaul. It’s not even about these men doing chores. At this point it’s the basics. Like just look after your own damn clothes and when you finish eating and making a mess take it to the kitchen. They’ll leave it in their bedrooms of living rooms. I’ve got cleaner that I pay for and I’d never do that!
