What changes and trends do you see taking place in the diaspora in 10-15 years

What do you see taking place with Somalis in Europe and North America especially where do you guys see our generation born in the west standing financially, educationally and career wise etc do you predict a major change in those areas. Also what major changes and trends do you guys see occurring within our generation over the next decade or so

Large bulk will fall into the lower class. They will be out of work, hooked on drugs, and leading dysfunctional families. A modest segment will join the middle/upper class and this segment might be interested in maintaining relations with Somalia, although cultural/religous distance might cause friction. A handful from each generation will enter the elite, e..g congress, media celebrity, etc.

There will be a population that would fail to integrate into society. I was reading a report when some Somalis first came to the uk a lot we’re behind school. However this was because they couldn’t speak English. However now Mashallah they overexcell in school being top of their class and have high rates of graduation. Somalis who don’t integrate properly are more likely to not succeed

So the younger generation are excelling in school but my question is Do you see third generation Somalis still maintaining links with the homeland or no

Definitely. Maybe not as strong as the last generation but their will be links. The wealthier Somalis should invest in making cultural community centres in big Somali communities that advocate for Somali interests for refugees, diaspora, and back home. We have a lot of that in Canada and I know Minnesota is really big on that. inshallah I want to see more of that grow

Less criminal activity but it will be very noticeable which somali has succeeded in life and who hasn’t. We will see more classim among somalis

@GemState @reer

We are way past peak criminal behaviour among somalis, the younger ones are committing way less crime. The lower class will consist of those who just work in warehouses, grocery stores etc. Some genuine guys/girls among this class but most will be those oo noolosha kadacay. We will be divided by income more noticeably.
