I don't watch Tv and nor am I aware of what is going on the climate change debate here in Australia, but what I read about the sciences of climate change is very limited. Every Friday, I hop into my bicycle and head downtown to spruik and hustle for new contracts. Today, it was different. The whole city was owned by primary and secondary school students demanding governments to acknowledge climate change and their future. I talked to a mother supporting her 9 year old daughter and her daughter. They were Chinese Australians. The majority of the kids were of European descent. Do you think there will ever be a day where Somali children protest against the anarchy imposed on them, or will they continue to the 68 I.Q of their parents and become tribal worshippers? We have people here who think climate change is a scam but support charcoal exports in Somalia and the desertification of Somalia as long as their clan benefits from it and ignore when Somalia experiences bouts and bouts of droughts again and again. How could one make Somali children understand this? How can we help them?

Can you share Taleb's conclusion, or are you saying, Somali kids should never be involved with the destruction of their habitat and the desertification of Somalia and their environment? How would they know? Should we ask Taleb not to involve them? White kids know more than pictures about the degradation of their environment, Taleb thinks not. What children?

A poor country like Somalia doesn't have the luxury to think about climate change. Somalia has no industrial infrastructure and has low pollution levels.

Fair dinkum-----ask anyone here about climate change? A Somali kid in Somaliland believes his most enemies are those in the South and thus, should be freed from them. The rest created their mini countries with presidents and hate each other. Those kids would only care of their entity and not the general environment.

The difference between the kids in Australia and the kids in Somalia is one has less power and resources. Australian kids could talk about climate change get their voices heard more easily in the world than a Somali kid from Somalia.
Our people, the general public of Somalia need to have more power, institutions that work for the people, and a better democracy.Unfortunately, they don’t have these things right now but inshallah in the future they will.

It is not only kids in Somalia, but Somali kids born in the diaspora. Most act like these kids in Minnesota. We lack to counsel them the proper way and involve them in meaningful discussions inside the family home. What will they know and care about the environment?
This reminded me during my uni days, I volunteered for a homework club for Somali high schoolers held in a social room at the housing project. One afternoon, we decided to take them to the State Library in the city to introduce them to this wonderful institution where you could find every academic book ever written. On the way to the city and back, their discussion revolved around teasing and tearing one another and making cruel remarks about the mental and physical disabilities of their relatives on the name of banter. You know kids mimic their parents and discuss what is discussed and they hear from their folks at home. While other Australian households are discussed the effects and need for change in Climate Change, our homes are discussed such meaningless and cruel discussions.

The best thing about Somalis is there A1 sense of humour we are very cheeky people who can dish it out and take it. We don’t want to be little cadan dull devoid of any personality Greta Thunberg. You want Somalis to be like that little girl who has Aspergers so lacks social skills and then when we do you will still complain. Also, you are a grown adult and this is the first time I’ve heard you talk about climate. Your usual topics include berating London kids who were stabbed.
If little Somali kids should be political it should be about racism from the cadaan community. The cadaan folks you are living with victimising the south Sudanese and blaming them for bringing crime, they look at you as a terrorist regardless of your belief and they still believe they are superior to aboriginals and call them offensive names behind their back. I’m sad to hear that you volunteered with vulnerable low income Somali kids and decided to listen in on their private conversation to make them look bad on this forum walal. Give with one hand- take with the other.

I don’t know if you’re experience is what everyone felt while interacting with Somali kids but I had an opposite encounter. One day, my cousins and I with majority of them in high school were talking about the -50 degrees temperatures we were experiencing in Minnesota.In Minnesota we regularly talk about weather. As we were talking we were talking about climate change and how each year the winters were getting longer and more chaotic and it probably had to do with climate change. They seemed informed about it and thought climate change was real. When I went to dugsi the kids in my class were also talking about the same thing. Maybe you should ask the Somali kids in your area what they think about climate change maybe you will be surprised on what they say.
