There is some historical link when you go back. And I think most Dir clans lived in the North at one point there was a fracturing and movement southward. The northern dwelling ones became quite numerous and often focus on their sub-clan entities. 
@Khad2023 are you perhaps an old member?I'm a dir too but we don't have as much a gravitational weight for recognition as a conglomerate clan. We love to mention subclans

I think you have a misunderstanding sxb. There is no such thing as a dir clan standing with peerage with the samaroon, ciise or isaaq. They are all subclans of the dir. It's like a taxonomic classification system. The 'genus' for example comes under 'family'. It compartmentalises this way...

No offence without Isaaq, samaroon and cisse, dir is nothing, unlike us who go by our subclans, yours isn’t big enough and you coast by dir as a main tribal name, you should be lucky you have those three clans in your umbrella

This is just theoretical. If you ask "would you accept if your sister or daughter married someone of a the different race" you would have many more negative answers. Most people today in the USA are ok with interracial marriage as long as it's not their family

It’s not that serious in my opinion. Some people make a big deal about it though. Especially Somalis. I think the reason why there’s so many somali people showcasing their IR marriages on social media is because Somalis pay way too much attention to that stuff and the creators of those channels know they’ll get views and engagement.
In a multicultural country and a globalizing world some people are gonna find someone they love who is outside of their race/culture. It is what it is.
If it makes the anti-IR marriage people feel better most people still marry within their culture.
