I know a few examples of unique names but @Idilinaa will probably start calling me names if I did. But yes, I find it weird how Somali traditionalists don't care about children having weird unique names. They let it slide. My cousin named his son a very unique name and his religious mother wasn't phased by it.
Yeah, it's becoming a thing now amongst the Somalis I know too. But if you have preconceived notions and this 'phenomenon' being foreign to you; it's natural for some to reject it.
As long as it's not an inappropriate, Somalis will not have a problem with it. In fact, older Somalis are probably used to it. Back in the days, during the colonial times and post-independence, it was not rare occurrences to have 'western' names either as their given names or nicknames. Even population for a period. I've seen a Somali guy called Marco as his gov't name.
