What’s with being more religious during Ramadan?

One of my boys big football fan isn’t gonna watch footy this month. Another xalimo put on hijab for Ramadan. I’m like what’s the point if you counting the days until you go back to your old ways?

Nowadays, at least in the West, Islam is more like belonging to a social group than a religion.

Guys do it to say to themselves "ah hey I'm doing Ramadan, ah people say hello to me, I'm greeted more often" while women it's only to feel coveted by other men, Western women are absolutely obsessed with the attention that men have to offer them and they will do anything for it

It's better than them not doing it, there's always the hope that they stay religious after Ramadan's end. Encourage others rather than question them.

You need to relearn the deen. Ramadan is one of the holiest months. It’s an act of changing yourself for the better. Fasting is one of the 5 pillars of Islam and it is mandatory.

Al-Bukhari (2008) and Muslim (174) also narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever spends the nights of Ramadan in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.”

I don't think OP is even Salafi- maybe he is, if he is then ok.
