Were Somalis Americans involved in the civil rights in the USA

I’ve read something about a year ago saying that Somalis were involved in the early part of civil rights and marched with Angela Davis. Was there a falling out and if so why ? From what I gather from my family, they disliked was hating whites and forced integration. They only agreed with banning Jim Crows and blacks to live and prosper without the fear of being lynched. I learned a lot about Jim Jones and it’s the real reason I don’t trust white liberals. Could anyone here fill me in.

No, why? Very simple, during that time period Somalia was an ally to the USSR, the big bogey man of the day and the US had an immigration policies that explicitly made it difficult for people coming from such nations to immigrate to the US, therefore you have little to no Somalis in the US during that period.

Don't know seems interesting tho. Wonder how Somalis where treated before civil rights movement
What I gather from my dad was it was okay. His dad had a high paying job and was well respected, but some thought they were weird, kinda arrogant, aloof and a bit crazy. Even though he was Roman Catholic, he sent money to his relatives back home. Was allowed to bare arms. My Berber side switch back and forth between white and black when it suited them. My maadow side have a lot influence in Arkansas . The first Somalis came to the USA during the 1920s. Many served the marines and Air Force. They’re all very patriotic.

But the civil rights were largely communist as well. Angela Davis loves Fidel Castro. All the pro black groups in the USA are socialist. 87 percent of African Americans are Democrats. Now I can see Ethiopians being involved. @Emily I do see more Ethiopians being more genuine about pan Africanisms. Was here any involved in the civil rights?

The most realistic scenario is that there was early involvement due USSR influence and I would imagine Jim Crow laws didn’t sit well with the small minority of Somali Americans there and we like to fight. But I think it feel out due to culture clash and different long term goals.
