Also we will continue to be a US client state. Those guys know how strategically vital we are. They'll continue the aid but they will definitely have sharp words behind closed doors.

What's the fuss about? Von Batton is a Nigerian fraudster who cosplays as a lobbyist. He's not apart of the US government

The fool is gonna lose his Ogaden clients who he's defrauding by calling out Hamza :dead:

USA has practically been kicked out of Africa by China so they’ll be trying to extend their influence on the continent in anyway they can. We could perhaps benefit from this what do you think?

100%
With Ethiopia joining BRICS I can see the US and EU pulling Somalia closer into its sphere of influence. This is why I don't think anything drastic will happen to us due to the speech. The US is in for the long term, especially since they desperately need a win from Afghanistan falling. They'll ensure Somalia is like Japan and South Korea, a propped up US allied state in Africa.

Personally I'm not too keen on them but we can gain some huge benefits by staying in their sphere of influence. We'll see how it plays out though.

If we have some bright people in the gov perhaps we can get Socotra and major infrastructure projects and the like.

If.
:mjcry:

We're gonna have wait for some of these self serving fools to die first. I don't know about Socotra, we've never shown much interest in it but it would make a great spot to control naval travel. Inshallah things work out for us, we just need a decade of stability and we'd be developing infrastructure and services.

Bro they were sending Somali pilots to American aviation academies to train with F-16s right before the dictatorship collapsed, only Egypt was given that technological privilege. If Barre didn’t chimp out on his own people and simply stepped down, a new inclusive government could have taken over, filled with the educated leaders from the 1960s era that were still around, and the country could have spent the last 30+ years capitalising on Somalia’s strategic location and importance in the world to the fullest.

Yeah bro. Barre really set us back, so far back that I'd consider this our own dark ages. I don't like to get into ifs cause it'll drive me mad with rage, so we should focus on what we can do to ensure the development of the nation now. While Barre lost it at the end of his rule he did have some good ideas during its beginning. Focusing of agriculture and military development was one.

We need the US and EU now but we have to work to become more stable. I'm thinking like South Korea, where at the start they were in poverty but through American investments of billions of dollars they made a 180 and built a great nation. There's a lot of fools in power right now that don't see the bigger picture, that's why when the conflicts end we'll be the ones to begin the rebuilding process.
