Wearing the Hijab in the UK

I wanted to ask my hijab wearing sisters from the UK a question. I have two sisters, both of whom wear hijab. When they are with a male relative they get no problems, but when alone face a higher level of harassment. I don't live in the UK, and most of my family has emigrated. One of my sisters is in the process of moving abroad, and this was a major contributing factor in her and her husband's decision. I wanted to know about your experiences, and how you think things are going? Do you think this is the beginning of a greater deterioration, or do you think it's all overblown?

Which city are you in? My sister was threatened twice in the past two weeks, mainly by young groups of men. Do you wear hijab?
None of that goes on in London saxiib. I don't know what your sisters experienced I can't say they weren't threatened but as a london native wearing the hijab is 100% normal.

We live in the South-West of England, so I'm guessing it is worse here than elsewhere. I think London is a lot different to the rest of the country.

I've never been assaulted whilst wearing a hijab alhamdulillah. London is very multicultural and everyone gets a long with each other.

Do you see yourself as settled in the UK or do you want to leave? Where do you see yourself?

No i love London. I wouldn't ever leave.

Our day is coming up soon. We've been engaged for 2 months and we're going to get married this December. My fiance is really built and muscular so he'll be my knight in shining armour.

I think the problems we face are complicated by a lot of factors. I think there will be serious economic problems in the next few years. My grandfather came to England in the 50's, and although it was harder then in terms of race politics, the country was still growing and I don't know what the reaction will be in the country. It's changed so much in the past 20 years, I have no idea how it can become better. I think it's better to go where there is less development. The somalis who seem to be doing the best are all based in Africa, in the developing economies.

Btw, I'm too lazy for detective work so I just take anyone's comments as I read them.

For their safety, they should stop wearing the hijab, period.
