Salafism/Wahhabism is a cancer. It's an uncompromising, anti-intellectual, literalist and myopic interpretation of Islam. It makes no use of context, nuance and sharia sanctioned flexibility. It's culturally imperialist in nature, as it stamps out local forms of Islamic practice, art, dress and mannerisms. It's also antithetical to modernity, retarding economic growth and promoting a rigid and simplistic political worldview.
