You're wrong. Dhaanto is 100% Somali. Dhaanto has its roots in Hirwo and Wiglo. Wiglo came first, then Hirwo, then dhaanto.
Wiglo originated in Waamo/NFD/Upper Jubba. Originally, Wiglo used to be sung by seafarers and it used to be mostly about homesickness, but then others started doing it, too. Wiglo is no older than 200 years(I'm being generous here), but it still predates many popular Somali folk dances/songs like Saar, Heello etc.
Wiglo evolved to Hirwo in Galbeed. And then Hirwo slowly transisted into Dhaanto. From there, the Dervish movement took the torch and brought Dhaanto to the areas they were active in. They used to sing dhaanto songs while marching.
In early 1930s, a man named Xaaji Baalbaal made a dance troupe which used to tour from Jigjiga and all the way to Erigavo. That's when dhaanto(or ciyaar Baalbaal as everyone used to call it) became a "dance". All the dhanlinyaros in miyi and magaalo were obsessed with it.
So tell me, what's so shameful about dhaanto again? Waxaad istaahishaa in lagu dhirbaaxo.
