We need a new Somali census

I have find it extremely difficult to find reliable informations on numbers regarding the Somali people like our population as a whole , per city, per district, GDP, Agriculture production clansetc most accurate numbers are from barres era, which obviously is outdated most numbers or maps after that are based on calculations or oral evidence and do not provide great accuracy considering the numerous changes in population and migration in the last ~30 years, so I believe it's high time for a nationwide census.
It will be great for us number freaks, it will also help us understand the effects of the civil war from a different view.

Well who is going to pay for it?

SFG started giving id cards few years ago. But only a fraction of the ppl got it.

It would be easy if everyone who lives in the country got registered in to the database.

Yeah their should be an ID service in every major city all connected to the same system so that they could all see it, this would also help with security and finding criminals.

Nah we should leave out clans sxb. Niggas like @waraabe will be emboldened & start claiming they're a different ethnicity...
:mjlol:

But yeah we definitely need to put a figure on the bantu population so we know what we're dealing with.

It would cost around $30 million for a complete census of Somalia. It could be done as a one off and by keeping track of the growth rate, it could be used for the next 15 years. The problem is actually not the money, but the lack of organization. The institutional capacity is simply not there. Even if, for example, we got the money tomorrow we would not be able to do it. If a country as well organized, by African standards, as Ethiopia needs international help conducting its census, it is probably impossible in Somalia.

So you're saying that Somalis are too stupid to count people?

Somalia needs Startups to solve this.

Finger printing everyone with a cellphone like Israeli developers have created can help log and individuals quickly and create a database that institutions can use.

Any Somali can lie, they just can't change finger prints.

Personally I believe that the Bantu population is much higher than 1million.

Doing a census is probably one of the most easiest things to commence and finish. On the other hand finding dedicated individuals to carry out this enormous task is the hard part.
