We are both black and Muslim which is the two groups that cadaans hate the most. This qabyalad nonsense does nothing but keep us divided and further erode our trust amongst ourselves. If we cant protect each other and the motherland and become self reliant, no one will help us or save us. We have no allies and no friends, you see how madows talk about us too and how Carabs try to rewrite our history and it will continue to get worse for us. Somalis both in the homeland and in the diaspora need to wake up to this growing reality and come together at last because we only have each other.

People will seethe about us then move onto the next topic then return to seethe about us then move on again. This is been happening since Somalis first came to the west. The only difference is racists were confined to their cunsuri sites because social media platforms had strict moderation; now that’s gone, here we are. These people didn’t appear out of nowhere, they have always existed, we simply weren’t exposed to their content/posts.
I’ve never expected ajanabis of any race or religion to come out and defend us which is why I’ve never bothered defending them lol. I’m Somali, first and foremost. People need to realize that minorities throw each other under the bus all the time, so don’t rely on others to speak out for you.
The last post I saw before deleting twitter was a group of n@zis screaming racial slurs at children, the comments were positive and had thousands of likes. The app is horrible now and will probably remain this way. But I agree with your points about qabyaalad & it’s dumb asf seeing diaspora folk repeating that qashin. At the end of the day, people perceive you as simply Somali and don’t care about fkd.

The carabs that are a problem are uae mainly but there is no need to cry about lack of allies, strategically we have some at a gov level, at people level we have each other. I believe the uae issues will be resolved in the near future inshallah

I dont know how to feel about this social media posts are mainly made by such a small number of a total population and within that its a minority of users who make posts I've not once been discriminated against for being Somali in over 10 plus years, I won't lie the burst of racism we have been experiencing over the past 8 months has been immense and there's no justification for it, but I can't lie and say its because we have no allies, we do and most of them are within the muslim community. It's just Somalis stick out like a sore thumb and its very easy to single us out because of our faith and distinct appearance. We do need to counteract this for sure and pump out positive stories about us, but also trends die out so this won't last. Indians have been getting a barrage of racism before them it was the Chinese and then the Arabs, before them it was Black(still) and Latino this will end, MAGA will die and this racism crawl back into the hole it came from or become moderated and unfashionable even if people still feel some kinda way.

I’m guilty of this & should stop but of course we have allies, like of course I have ajanabi friends who care about me and so does every other Somali person. Of course they would stand up for me if I ever experienced cunsurinimo irl. But I never have. The thought of someone being racist to me irl feels unfathomable lol. Sometimes we focus a lot on the negatives and ignore all the positives. Online racism is confusing to me because I can’t ever imagine any of it happening irl but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be called out or that we shouldn’t speak out against it but my point is that our lives are positive irl. We’ll be fine

I think the disconnect here is that you’re more concerned about foreign political interferences back home while the folks on this thread are focused on the everyday social antagonism we face mainly by Africans & AAs on social media
